Oshaniwa Backs Chelle to Lead Super Eagles Long-Term

Former Super Eagles defender Juwon Oshaniwa has expressed strong support for head coach Eric Sekou Chelle, stating that he believes the Franco-Malian tactician is the right man to lead the Nigeria national football team for many years.

Oshaniwa explained that Chelle’s approach to managing the national team reminds him of the methods used by the late Stephen Keshi, who famously guided Nigeria to success during his time in charge of the Super Eagles.

“I see similarities between Chelle and Stephen Keshi,” Oshaniwa said.

The former defender noted that both coaches share a similar philosophy when it comes to building a team and making the most of the players available to them.

“They both focus on building the team with the players they have,” he added.

Oshaniwa believes Chelle has already shown promising signs in his handling of the squad, particularly in the way he is trying to establish a balanced and competitive team structure.

“He has shown that he understands how to build a strong squad,” he explained.

According to him, giving the coach enough time to implement his ideas will allow the team to grow and improve steadily.

“He needs time to fully implement his plans,” he noted.

The former international also stressed that stability in the coaching department is essential for the long-term success of the national team.

“Consistency in leadership is very important for any team,” he said.

Oshaniwa concluded by urging football authorities to maintain confidence in Chelle and allow him the opportunity to continue developing the team.

“I hope he stays with the Super Eagles for a long time,” he stated
