Organisers Target 32 Teams For Odunmbaku Gold Cup In Lagos

No fewer than 32 teams across Lagos State are expected to take part in the maiden edition of the Cardinal Odunmbaku Gold Cup scheduled to kick off in August.

The competition is organized by Souls Winners Ministry International under the founder of the church, Cardinal James Omolaja Odunmbaku who also doubles as a member of the APC Governing Advisory Council in the state.

Chairman Main Organising Committee, Prince Sulaiman Gbadamosi explained that the competition is packaged to celebrate the APC chieftain who has done well for the party in the state and Nigeria at large in the last few years.

He also disclosed that a competition of this magnitude has received the blessings and support of Cardinal Odunmbaku popularly known as Baba Eto.

He disclosed that only clubs with football pedigree and good character would feature in the tournament.

“This is the first of its kind in the state and we have received the support of the patron of the church, Chief Iyk Madu Obi and Cardinal Odunmbaku to go ahead with the competition.

“Presently we are planning to make the registration forms available to the teams and only 32 teams would be allowed to take part in the competition,” he said.

Gbadamosi however expressed gratitude to the cup donor, Chief Odunmbaku for his support of the grassroots football development in the state and promised that the Odunmbaku Gold Cup would record a huge success, while new talents would be discovered during the tournament.
