Former Super Falcons striker, Desire Oparanozie has written off Nigeria’s group opponents at the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON 2025), with a verdict that Tunisia, Botswana and Algeria cannot pose any threat to the nine-time champions.
Sports247 reports that, with Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) already hyping the Falcons’ outing at this year’s competition in Morocco as ‘Mission X,’ meaning they are gunning for a tenth title, Oparanozie believes the team’s trophy-quest is realisable.

Although she admitted that the Falcons’ preparations could have been better than what they got heading into Sunday’s first group match against Tunisia, Oparanozie reckoned that Coach Justin Madugu’s side will rise to the occasion when it matters most.
The gangling former attacker, who netted 22 goals in 35 matches for Nigeria and was top scorer at the 2014 WAFCON, declared: “The truth is that, in as much as we think we’ve not had enough preparation, all those team’s in our group shouldn’t pose a threat to us.”
The member of Nigeria’s WAFCON winning teams in 2010, 2014, 2016, and 2018, who started her career with Bayelsa Queens of Yenagoa before joining Delta Queens of Asaba, then twinkled in France with Guingamp and Dijon, predicted another title for Nigeria this year.
While harping on her patriotic zeal as a Nigerian, the broad shouldered striker, who also played for Wolfsburg of Germany, among other clubs, concluded by expressing confidence in the Falcons’ chances of lifting the cup in Morocco.
“As a Nigerian and being patriotic, I will say the Super Falcons will go all the way to win the cup,” affirmed Oparanozie, who also played for Luleburgaz and Rossiyanka, then hung her boots in 2023 at Wuhan Jianghan University of China.
