Oparaku believes Heartland will bounce back

The best days of Heartland may be behind them, and attempts to fight for a league title this season may have died as soon as it began, but team Manager Mobi Oparaku believes there’s still a lot on the plate and the club can still turn its fortunes around this season.

Formerly known as Iwuanyanwu Nationale and prior that as Spartans, they are one of Nigeria’s traditional sides and enjoyed league success in the 80s. Those glory days are almost forgotten now, because the club has been “a passenger” in recent times Oparaku told Sports247.

The former Nigeria international insists there are now plans to ensure that from the current season, the team vies for silverware.

Heartland last won the league in 1993 and have been on 7 years trophyless since their FA Cup win in 2013.
