Sports247 reports that Okongwu’s latest heroics came against Orlando Magic, with The Hawks power forward helping his side to a 124-112 victory, which was their 10th consecutive win during a season for the first time in 11 years.
It followed hot on the heels of another top show versus Brooklyn Nets, as the Nigerian-born rising star delivered a dominant performance that saw him end the night with 13 points, 9 rebounds, 4 blocks and 2 steals.
Okongwu is having a standout 2025-26 season in Atlanta, as he is frequently dominating inside and proving to be a ‘net-breaker’ for The Hawks, with his high-scoring, high-efficiency performances.
He has recently recorded multiple 20+ point games, including a 25-point performance on 60% shooting against Portland Trail Blazers and a 21-point, 15-rebound effort against Brooklyn Nets.
Earlier this month, Okongwu, who is currently under a 4-year, $61.98m contract extension, demonstrated his offensive value by scoring 25 points with 10 rebounds and 6 assists against The Trail Blazers, as well as seven three-point attempts.
His 2025-26 season has been marked by high-efficiency scoring and significant contributions off the bench, prompting consideration for the Sixth Man of the Year award, with averages of 15.8 points and 7.8 rebounds through his first 62 games.
Beyond scoring, Okongwu has shown increased range and shot-blocking capability, including a 4-block game against Dallas Mavericks a few days back, as he again established himself in both netting and rebounding qualities.
That was further seen in his recent 15-point, 7-rebound performance against Orlando Magic, as the 25-year-old power forward, who was highly influenced by his older brother, Nnamdi, continues waxing strong.
Sports247 recalls that Onyeka started playing the giants’ game from age eight at Edge Basketball and was a four-year starter at Chino Hills High School in California, after which he further honed his skills with USC Trojans at collegiate level.
