As Christians across Nigeria and around the world celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Grassroots Sports Development, Hon. Anthony Adeyinka Adeboye, has called on Nigerians to embrace unity, peace, and renewed hope during the Christmas season, describing the period as a powerful reminder of shared values and collective responsibility.
In a Christmas message released from his office, Adeboye noted that Christmas represents God’s grace, sacrifice, and love, urging Nigerians to reflect these virtues in their daily lives, especially at a time when the nation is in need of togetherness and national healing.

“Christmas is a season that reminds us that we are one people, bound by love, faith, and shared destiny. It is a time to put aside divisions and embrace peace, kindness, and unity,” he said.
The presidential aide also extended prayers for good health, joy, and divine blessings for Nigerians at home and in the diaspora, while calling for continued support for the country’s sporting aspirations.
Adeboye used the occasion to rally support for Nigerian athletes, particularly the Super Eagles currently representing the nation at the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, stressing that the team carries the hopes and prayers of millions of Nigerians.
“Through sports, we see the true power of unity, discipline, and teamwork.
As our Super Eagles continue their campaign in Morocco, we stand firmly behind them in prayers and support. They are not alone; the spirit of Nigeria is with them,” he stated.
He further emphasized the importance of grassroots sports in shaping the character, discipline, and future of Nigerian youths, describing sports as a vital tool for nation-building, opportunity creation, and national pride.
As the year draws to a close, Adeboye urged Nigerians to spread love, support one another, and remain hopeful for a better future, expressing confidence that the coming year will bring greater achievements and collective victories for the nation.
