Former Super Falcons assistant coach Mansur Abdullahi has warned against complacency ahead of the WAFCON tournament.
Speaking ahead, Abdullahi advised that despite the Falcons’ status as nine-time champions and their talented roster, each match must be approached with discipline.
He emphasized that mental readiness is as vital as physical skills. “Talent alone won’t win this,” he cautioned. “They must take one game at a time, stay focused, and respect every opponent.”
Though he did not cite specific sources, this philosophy echoes common wisdom among former coaches and analysts.
Abdullahi highlighted the significance of this tournament for indigenous coaching careers. He praised the leadership of Justin Madugu and urged the team to sustain their work‑ethic throughout the tournament.
Without citing external articles, his statements resonate with widespread calls from Nigerian football circles to avoid overconfidence.
He said, “We have a team that can go all the way… but we must be wary and disciplined as we approach each game.”
