As part of efforts to achieve a larger and an exciting F.A Cup competition the Ondo State Football Associate has concluded plans to have teams register from all football councils across the state.
In a statement revealing plans for the activities of the Association for the new year the Chairman Otunba Dele Ajayi who is presently out of the country has directed that the acting chairman Henry Akingboju should set up a committee to work on a befitting state FA Cup finals as part of ways to return the lost glory of the competition.
“All the board members should prepare and start mobilizing the senatorial districts as soon as possible to get at least a team each from every Local Government Areas across the state as a matter of fact iam directing the vice chairman Henry Akingboju who is acting in my absence to set up a committee to work on the FA Cup”
Otunba Dele Ajayi who sent all the board members his best regards of the new year equally informed that any council chairman who fails to mobilize at least a team for the competition will be sanctioned at the board level insisting it was the only to get everyone involved so as to get a positive result in the end.
“At least a team from each local government shouldn’t be too much to ask from the council chairmen of which failure to do so will attract sanctions from our end at the board level”
Corroborating the chairman one of the board members Lanre Falana said Otunba Dele Ajayi’s approach was no doubt the best way forward to have a befitting State FA cup finals with more teams participating from across the state thereby producing a very tough competition that will produce a worthy representative for the state at the Aiiteo Cup level.
“It is a wake up call from the Chairman Otunba Dele Ajayi because it will afford us prepare our teams well from all levels so we can get a worthy representative at the end of the day and this is the year we plan to be more proactive leaving behind some patchy past”
It would be recalled that Sunshine Stars and Akure City FC have both been representing Ondo State at the last two editions of the Aiteo Cup and this may be the reason the FA wants to add more spice and competition at the state level.
