The Warriors who opened their League campaign with a 48-42 point victory over Impressions on Day 1, lost by 2 baskets to highly rated Ebun Comets as the game ended 52-48 points in favor of the team coached by former D’Tigers Head Coach, Ayo Bakare.

Despite putting up a spirited display against the Ayo Bakare lads, the Oyo State team lost the Day 3 game decided at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium.

Speaking with BCOS Sports reporter Boluwaji Ogunmola after the game, Coach Sobogun expressed satisfaction with his boys’ fighting spirit despite enduring several years of no-action in the Nigeria Basketball Premier League.

“I’m happy with the performance of my boys today, considering the fact that we’ve not featured in any competition for years, and we only commenced training last week Monday, unlike our opponents, Ebun Comet who have been involved in many competitions across the country. So I’m delighted we were able to push them to the limit and only lost by 2 baskets”, he said.

The Coach stressed that his target is to ensure his team makes the top four from the Ibadan Centre of the Atlantic Conference so as to make it to the next phase of the Premier League.

Up next for the Oyo State team is a make or mar game against Kwara Falcons on Day 4 of the competition.

The Oluyole Warriors will have to be at their best to end the unbeaten run of the defending Champions on Wednesday.
