Olugboji Sounds Alarm: Super Eagles Must Win Final Two Qualifiers or Forget 2026

Former Nigeria international Jide Olugboji has issued a rallying cry to the Super Eagles, insisting that the team must win their last two World Cup qualifiers following FIFA’s points deduction against South Africa.

According to Olugboji, Nigeria have been handed a chance that rarely comes in football, and it must not be wasted. “This doesn’t happen often. South Africa’s loss is our gain. But it means nothing unless we deliver maximum points in the final games,” he stressed.

The Eagles’ inconsistent displays have left fans frustrated and qualification hopes hanging by a thread. But with the table reshuffled, Olugboji believes excuses must be thrown out the window. “We can’t keep saying ‘next time.’ This is the time. Win the last two games and see where the chips fall,” he said.

The former midfielder also urged the players to approach the fixtures with urgency and mental toughness. “The group is wide open. South Africa will come hard, Lesotho are dangerous, and Rwanda are still in it. We must not only win but win convincingly.”

Olugboji’s warning echoes the sentiments of millions of Nigerian fans desperate for another World Cup appearance. Failure to qualify, he noted, would be catastrophic for Nigerian football, damaging morale and international reputation.

For now, the task is clear: win, and hope other results go Nigeria’s way.
