Olowookere Returns Home To Complete CAF Coaching Badge As Flamingos Boss Maps Out Future

Flamingos head coach, Bankole Olowookere, has touched down in Nigeria with a clear mission — to complete the final stage of his CAF B Licence Coaching course and take another significant step in his managerial evolution.

Fresh from guiding the U-17 women’s national team through their World Cup campaign, Olowookere says his return is not for rest but for growth, development, and the relentless pursuit of excellence.

The coach, known for his calm authority on the touchline, described the ongoing certification process as “a valuable addition to my career,” explaining that the classroom, assessments, and practical sessions have already broadened his technical insight.

According to him, modern football demands continuous learning, and coaches must constantly reinvent themselves to stay competitive. Completing the CAF B Licence, he stressed, is essential for his long-term ambitions.

Olowookere revealed that juggling his international duties and course obligations required extraordinary commitment, but insisted that both experiences complemented each other.

He said the intensity and pressure of the World Cup sharpened his decision-making and tactical responsiveness, while the coaching programme deepened his understanding of player psychology, training methodologies, and match preparation.

Speaking with patriotic conviction, the Flamingos boss reiterated that every national assignment remains a privilege. He said answering the call to serve Nigeria — whether at youth level or any national capacity — carries enormous responsibility.

He added that working with young female players has strengthened his appreciation for grassroots development and the need to create pathways for emerging talent.

Olowookere also acknowledged the importance of continued investment in women’s football, pointing out that Nigeria has the raw talent to dominate the continent for years to come if the right structures are sustained. He described the World Cup outing as a learning curve for both players and staff, saying it exposed strengths to build on and weaknesses to address urgently.

With his CAF B Licence now nearing completion, Olowookere is determined to return to camp smarter, sharper, and better equipped to lead the next generation of Flamingos. “Growth never stops,” he declared. “And Nigeria deserves the very best from all of us.”
