Oladimeji Confident Of Victory Against CS Sfaxien

Bayelsa United’s left-back, Hassan Oladimeji says his side will progress to the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup with a victory against CS Sfaxien of Tunisia.

Bayelsa United defeated As Ashanti Golden Boys of Guinea 4-2 in the first leg, a preliminary round fixture in the CAF Confederation Cup to secure a smooth passage while the Tunisian side were drawn by.

Reacting to the fixture shortly after training, the experienced left-back said the Prosperity Boys are not new in the continent having played in the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League in 2009 where they lost 2-1 on aggregate to eventual champions Es Setif of Algeria.

The former Stationery Stores star asserted that the victories against former Nigeria Professional Football League Champions Enugu Rangers, Lobi Stars, and CAF Champions League campaigners Rivers United was indicative that the Yenagoa based side can play any team in the continent.

Oladimeji noted that the recent friendly game with Enyimba International was indicative that the victory against AS Ashanti Golden Boys in the first round was no fluke, saying that the Aiteo Cup Champions will advance to the group stage with a convincing win against CS Sfaxien.

On the secret of the team’s success story, he attributed it to the camaraderie in the squad coupled with the continuous support for the technical crew and the management of the club.

He however commended the management of the club for prioritizing the welfare of the players.

Meanwhile, Bayelsa United yesterday beat Nigeria Professional Football League side Abia Warriors 2-0 at the Samson Siasia Stadium Yenagoa in a warm-up game ahead of CS Sfaxien clash next week.

Two late goals from Okardi Inikurogha on 87 minutes and Hassan Oladimeji on 90 ensure that the Prosperity Boys go into the Sfaxien game with smiles.
