Head coach of Femmco Football Academy, Oluwafemi Oladehinde Adebayo, has praised Edo Queens for their impressive campaign in the WAFU-B Women’s Champions League Qualifiers, describing the Nigerian champions as deserving winners.
Speaking in an exclusive SPORTS247 interview, Oladehinde also applauded Edo Queens head coach Kennedy Boboye for successfully guiding the team to the continental title after taking charge under challenging circumstances.

Boboye stepped into the role following the departure of Moses Aduku, who was away on international duty with Nigeria’s U-20 women’s national team, the Super Falconets, during their World Cup campaign in Poland.
According to Oladehinde, Boboye’s ability to immediately deliver despite not initially preparing for the specific assignment demonstrates the quality of a good coach.
«“He got the job done despite not focusing on such mission earlier as he is with Bendel Insurance. That’s a quality of a good coach,” Oladehinde said.»
The Femmco coach believes Edo Queens’ success was also built on solid preparation, with the team strengthening its squad after the conclusion of the domestic league season.
“Edo Queens prepared well and also added some better legs after the league season,” Oladehinde noted, pointing to the importance of recruitment and preparation ahead of a demanding continental campaign.
Edo Queens ultimately justified their status as Nigeria’s representatives by overcoming Ghanaian side Ampem Darkoa in a dramatic final. The contest ended 2-2 after regulation time, before the Nigerian champions held their nerve to win 4-1 on penalties.
The triumph secured Edo Queens the WAFU-B Women’s Champions League Qualifiers crown and further underlined the growing strength of women’s football in Nigeria.
For Oladehinde, the success was a combination of preparation, quality additions and effective coaching, with Boboye deserving particular credit for seamlessly taking responsibility and delivering the desired result.
As Edo Queens celebrate their continental success, their achievement also provides another encouraging sign of Nigeria’s growing competitiveness in women’s football at the regional level.
