Ola Aina Signs New Nottingham Forest Deal, Says Staying Was a “No-Brainer”

Nottingham Forest defender Ola Aina has signed a new contract extension with the club, committing his future to the Premier League side until 2028.

Aina, who joined Forest in 2023 and quickly became a mainstay in the team’s defense, described his decision to stay as a “no-brainer” due to the club’s ambition and the support he has received since arriving at the City Ground.

“It feels good to have everything sorted,” Aina said in an interview with the club’s media. “It’s a fantastic club, a beautiful city, and I’m excited for what lies ahead.” The 27-year-old played a key role in Forest’s successful 2024–25 season, during which the team secured a top-seven finish and earned a Europa Conference League spot for the first time in decades.

Forest triggered a one-year extension earlier in the year, but the new long-term deal underlines the club’s commitment to retaining core players. Aina, who has previously played for Chelsea, Torino, and Fulham, brings top-flight experience and versatility, with the ability to play across the backline.

Forest manager Nuno Espírito Santo praised Aina’s consistency and leadership, stating that securing his future was one of the club’s priorities this summer. Aina’s performances have also earned him regular call-ups to the Nigerian national team, where he remains a dependable defensive option.

With several new signings expected and European football on the horizon, Forest fans will be encouraged by the club’s determination to build on last season’s progress. Aina’s extension signals stability and ambition as the Reds aim to push higher in the Premier League.
