Speaking ahead of the competition, Okunwa-Igunbor said Nigeria’s previous encounters with teams like Zambia, Egypt and Malawi give the Super Falcons a psychological edge, even as African women’s football continues to improve across the continent.
She acknowledged the growing competitiveness of rival teams but insisted Nigeria’s pedigree still counts.
According to her, the Super Falcons remain the benchmark in African women’s football and do not fear any opponent.
She stressed that the players understand the responsibility that comes with wearing the national colours and will be fully focused on maintaining Nigeria’s status as Africa’s number one team.
Okunwa-Igunbor added that belief, experience and winning mentality will be key as the Super Falcons aim for another successful AFCON campaign.
