Director of organization for the forthcoming Okpekpe Road Race in Edo State, Zack Amodu has predicted that another chapter in history will be written from this year’s edition of the competition, which is billed to take place on May 23rd.

Amodu enthused that the renewal further affirms the event’s ranking among the world’s elite road races and cements its reputation as Africa’s foremost 10km road running competition, thereby making the upcoming 11th edition highly promising.
He also disclosed that this year’s race will begin at Apana Road, from where it will wind through tarred roads and rolling hills, covering a distance of 10 kilometres in a true test of endurance, to end in the serene countryside town of Okpekpe.
Amodu added, “The renewal of our Gold Label status is a testament to the standards we have set and maintained over the years.
Okpekpe is not just a race; it is Africa’s pride and Nigeria’s gift to the world.
“On May 23rd, the hills of Edo will echo with the footsteps of champions, and history will once again be written. Beyond athletics, the Okpekpe race has become a cultural and economic showcase for Edo North Senatorial District.”
