Former Nigerian international and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) legend, Austin “Jay-Jay” Okocha, has lauded his former club’s emphatic 5-0 victory over Inter Milan in the 2025 UEFA Champions League final, describing the win as “amazing” and a significant milestone for both the club and football at large, Sports247 reports.
Okocha, who donned the PSG jersey from 1998 to 2002, expressed his elation over the club’s first-ever Champions League title.

He admitted to predicting a 2-1 scoreline in favor of PSG but was pleasantly surprised by the dominant performance that led to the historic win.
“I thought it would be a tight game, maybe 2-1, but the boys made it look easy,” Okocha remarked during TNT Sports’ post-match coverage.
“This is a monumental achievement for PSG and a proud moment for football enthusiasts worldwide.”
The final, held in Munich, saw standout performances from young talents like Désiré Doué, who netted twice and was named Man of the Match, and Senny Mayulu, who became the second-youngest scorer in a Champions League final. Under the guidance of coach Luis Enrique, PSG not only clinched their maiden European title but also completed a continental treble, having already secured the Ligue 1 and French Cup titles this season.
Celebrations erupted across Paris, with fans thronging the Champs-Élysées and the Parc des Princes to revel in the victory.
However, the festivities were marred by incidents of unrest, leading to two fatalities, over 190 injuries, and more than 500 arrests across France.
PSG has since condemned the violence, emphasizing that such actions do not reflect the values of the club or its supporters.
Okocha’s sentiments resonate deeply, especially considering his longstanding belief in PSG’s potential to conquer Europe. In past interviews, he often emphasized that winning the Champions League was a matter of “when, not if” for the Parisian giants.
As PSG basks in the glory of this monumental achievement, fans and former players like Okocha celebrate a dream realized, marking a new chapter in the club’s illustrious history.
