Okaka FC Celebrate Playoff Qualification As League Integrity Prevails

In a season fraught with controversy, Okaka Football Club has emerged as a symbol of resilience and integrity, securing a well-earned place in the Nationwide League One (NLO) Division One promotion playoffs.

This milestone comes in the wake of recent disciplinary actions taken by the league’s leadership to address a series of match-fixing incidents that threatened the credibility of Nigerian grassroots football.

Integrity Restored: A League Takes a Stand

The NLO made headlines last month following its decisive crackdown on unethical conduct. Multiple clubs, including ACT di Sports Oyibo FC, Seamoriow FC, Franceex FC, and BISON United, were sanctioned and disqualified after investigations revealed coordinated match manipulation.

The swift intervention by the NLO Chief Operating Officer (COO) has since been widely praised for restoring public confidence in the league.

Okaka FC has publicly commended the NLO’s leadership for upholding the values of fair play and competitive integrity.

“We extend our sincere appreciation to the NLO COO and the entire administration for acting decisively in defense of the sport’s values.

Their transparency and zero-tolerance stance on misconduct have reaffirmed our belief in the integrity of Nigerian football,” the club said in an official statement.

Eyes on Promotion: The Road to the NNL

With the dust now settled, Okaka FC is preparing to compete in the highly anticipated NLO Division One playoff, set to begin on June 12, 2025, at Ijebu-Ode Stadium. The round-robin format will feature four qualifying teams from the Lagos zone, with the top side earning promotion to the Nigerian National League (NNL) — the country’s second-tier football division.

June 12: vs. Magic Stars FC — 9:00 AM

June 13: vs. Lekki United FC — 1:00 PM

June 15: vs. Ikorodu City FA — 1:00 PM

Okaka FC’s meteoric rise since its founding in 2022 has been underpinned by a youth-first philosophy, disciplined management, and strong community roots. The club enters the playoffs with high morale and a renewed focus, determined to cap off their season with a successful promotion campaign.
