Ogunbote Gives Prayers For Rangers’ Qualification

Rangers International of Enugu coach, Gbenga Ogunbote has come out with strong words of prayers for God’s intervention in his side’s quest for progress to the next round of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Sports247.ng can report that Ogunbote has opted for the spiritual angle to aid his side’s progress, considering the tight spot they have found themselves, following back-to-back defeats by Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia.

A 2-1 away loss in the first leg was followed by a 2-0 slump at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu in the reverse fixture, and Ogunbote admits it would take divine intervention to save his side from early elimination.

Heading into Sunday’s fifth match of the group stage, which The Flying Antelopes have away to Salitas of Burkina Faso, Ogunbote admits it is beyond his power to help the Coal City cruise ahead.

Ogunbote is also quick to note the role the club’s fans will also play in helping Rangers move into the group stage, hence his apology to their supporters for the losses to Etoile and appeal for fresh and unflinching support as they seek redemption this Sunday in Ouagadougou.

However, the former Sunshine Stars of Akure, Shooting Stars of Ibadan and Enyimba of Aba handler also admitted that he must keep working hard and think of the right tactics that could aid Rangers’ victory.

Ogunbote stated: “I apologize for the last two games. I still want them to have confidence in the team.
“(They should continue to) believe in us, pray for the team, (and) wish us success in this game we are going for.”
“Since we have defeated them once, we can do it again. We know we are going for a tough game but by God’s grace, we’ll come out unscathed.”
