In an electrifying performance that has stunned fans and athletes alike, Nigerian international Sade Olatoye delivered back-to-back gold medals for Rivers State at the ongoing National Sports Festival — just 48 hours after arriving in the country.
The U.S.-based thrower touched down in Nigeria on Monday, and by Tuesday, she had already made her mark by claiming the gold medal in the women’s Hammer Throw, asserting her dominance in her signature event.

But Sade Olatoye wasn’t done. On Wednesday, she returned to the field for the Shot Put event, and despite challenging weather conditions that forced the competition to halt midway due to a slippery surface, she had already done more than enough.
Her throw of 15.43 meters was unmatched, securing a second gold medal without even needing to complete the full event.
The display was a masterclass in composure, power, and elite preparation — hallmarks of an athlete who has continually represented Nigeria at the highest levels. Olatoye is no stranger to gold, having made history in 2022 by becoming the first Nigerian woman to win gold in the Hammer Throw at the African Championships.
A dual powerhouse in both academics and athletics, the Ohio State graduate holds a Master’s degree in the medical field and is celebrated for her discipline both on and off the field. Her latest triumphs in Asaba only add to her growing legacy.
