Speaking after the match, Ogbala revealed the mindset he instilled in his young squad ahead of the encounter, insisting that the champions’ reputation was no reason to be intimidated.
“The match has come and gone, and immediately we arrived from Port Harcourt, I told the players that Bayelsa are coming.
They are champions and many see them as unbeatable, but we can do it. We had to break the jinx and step up on the league table.”
The Heartland Queens coach also highlighted the developmental work being done within the team, stressing that his players are still learning and growing.
“We worked through the break. I also work with the girls from the grassroots, so they are young and dynamic. This team is still in a learning process, but they are improving with every game.”
Heartland Queens showed remarkable resilience in the contest, coming from a goal down to secure a convincing 3–1 victory. Ogbala said he never doubted his side’s ability to turn the game around.
“Even when we went a goal down, I was very convinced because we worked for this moment. The belief was there. That’s the magic.”
The result represents a major statement from Heartland Queens, as they not only ended Bayelsa Queens’ dominance on the day but also boosted their own push up the NWFL standings with a confidence-lifting performance in front of their home fans.
