OFFICIAL: Bright Ozebagbe Returns to Ikorodu City FC as Technical Adviser

Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side Ikorodu City FC has officially announced the return of Bright Ozebagbe as the club’s Technical Adviser, following the departure of Nurudeen Aweroro to Shooting Stars Sports Club.

Ozebagbe makes a surprising comeback just months after his initial dismissal early in the 2024/2025 NPFL campaign.

He was sacked six weeks into the season after the team failed to secure a win in their opening six matches. His replacement, Aweroro, guided the club from the relegation zone to an impressive fourth-place finish.

Despite his exit, Ozebagbe is credited with leading Ikorodu City to promotion from the Nigeria National League (NNL) and was at the helm when the club lifted the 2023 Lagos FA Cup title.

His familiarity with the team’s structure and players appears to have influenced the club’s decision to bring him back in a more strategic capacity.

In an official statement released on the club’s social media platforms, Ikorodu City confirmed the dual appointments:

The appointment was confirmed in a club statement released on Saturday morning

“Bright Ozebagbe will serve as Technical Adviser of the club, overseeing the development of all categories of the club. Ali Kandil becomes head coach.”

Ali Kandil, who has previously worked within the coaching setup, now steps up as head coach and will take direct charge of the first team for the upcoming season.

The new appointments are aimed at building on the club’s recent progress and stabilizing performance ahead of the 2025/2026 NPFL season.
