Nigeria recently secured qualification into World Group II, a significant milestone that has boosted confidence within the federation.

Speaking on the next challenge, Ochei revealed that the federation and players are already looking ahead with belief and determination as preparations intensify for the crucial playoff encounter scheduled for September 18–20, 2026, in Morocco.

“We are very optimistic about our chances,” Ochei said. “This team has shown resilience and growth, and qualifying for World Group II is proof that Nigerian tennis is moving in the right direction.”

The federation president praised the commitment of the players and technical crew, noting that consistency and hunger have been key factors in Nigeria’s steady rise on the continental and global scene.

“The players have shown character in difficult moments,” he added. “They believe in themselves, and that mindset is what gives us confidence going into a tough away tie like Morocco.”

Ochei acknowledged that the encounter will not be easy, especially playing on foreign soil, but insisted that Nigeria has the quality and mental strength to overcome the challenge.

“Morocco is a strong side, especially at home, but we are not going there to admire them,” he said. “We are going there to compete and win.”

He also highlighted the importance of sustained development and exposure, stressing that the current progress is a result of deliberate planning and investment in players over time.

“We are seeing the benefits of continuity,” Ochei explained. “Our focus has been on giving players the platform to grow, compete internationally and believe they belong at this level.”

The Nigeria Tennis Federation boss expressed confidence in head coach Benson Isicbeli and his technical team, describing their work as central to the country’s ambitions.

“The technical crew understands the players and the demands of this level,” he noted. “With proper preparation, I believe Nigeria will book a place in the next round.”

As Nigeria sets its sights on a historic step toward the higher tiers of world tennis, Ochei’s message remains clear: belief, preparation and resilience will define the journey against Morocco.
