Obafemi Critiques Super Eagles’ Performance, Urges Improvement Ahead of Final

Despite Nigeria’s 2-1 win over Ghana in the Unity Cup semi-final, former Super Eagles defender Abiodun Obafemi has voiced concerns over the team’s performance.

He described the display as “uninspiring and lethargic,” criticizing the midfield’s lack of control and the team’s overall intensity.

“We allowed Ghana too much creative freedom. It wasn’t the kind of performance you’d expect from a team of our calibre,” Obafemi remarked.

As Nigeria prepares to face Jamaica in the final, Obafemi emphasized the need for tactical discipline and energy, especially considering the caliber of players involved.

The final will take place at Brentford’s Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 7:45 PM WAT, with live coverage on NFF TV, MAX, and AfroSport
