NWFL Premiership Matchday 6: Road Warriors Dominate as Away Sides Make Bold Statements

Matchday 6 of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership delivered a compelling narrative, with away teams stealing the spotlight across the country. Five clubs recorded emphatic victories on the road, underlining the growing competitiveness and tactical maturity within the league.

In Ibadan, Ekiti Queens produced a disciplined and assured performance to defeat Pacesetter Queens 2–0. Zainab Ismail broke the deadlock in the 24th minute with a composed finish, before Winifred Eyebhoria sealed the result late on, condemning the hosts to another difficult outing.

Delta Queens left it late in Umuahia but secured maximum points against Ahudiyannem Queens courtesy of Charity Isaiah’s 77th-minute strike, a goal that highlighted their resilience and game management away from home.

Confluence Queens were among the standout performers of the round, cruising to a convincing 3–0 victory over Dannaz Ladies in Lagos. Blessing Sunday opened the scoring shortly after the hour mark, while Seember Emmanuel struck twice to seal Confluence Queens’ first win of the season and inject fresh belief into their campaign.

In Aba, FC Robo Queens continued their perfect run with a professional 2–0 win against Abia Angels. Oluwakemi Adegbuyi struck as early as the second minute, setting the tone, before Tosin Rafiu added a second in the 78th minute to keep Robo Queens firmly atop Group B with six wins from six matches.

Edo Queens also made a strong away statement in Abuja, dismantling Naija Ratels 3–0. Goals from Atume Doosuur, Mary Mamudu, and Precious Oscar reflected Edo Queens’ dominance and efficiency, further strengthening their title credentials.

Elsewhere, Bayelsa Queens edged Rivers Angels 2–0 in a keenly contested South-South derby in Ozoro, while Heartland Queens claimed a solid 2–0 home win over Ibom Angels in Owerri. Sunshine Queens and Remo Stars Ladies shared the spoils in Akure with a 1–1 draw, the only stalemate of the round.
