NWFL MD9: Adamawa Queens FC Defeats Abia Angels in an Exciting Clash

In the highly anticipated match day 9 return leg between Adamawa Queens FC and Abia Angels FC, held on 21st of February, 2024 at Pantami Stadium in Gombe State. The two sides clashed in a thrilling encounter that had fans on the edge of their seats.

Adamawa Queens fc skippo, immaculate Paul expressed her feelings towards the game. she said the game was really a battle and it was not easy but they still had to get the job done. ” I expected to win the match because we were spiritually, emotionally and physically ready for our visitors. after the first goal, I thought it was the end but that was when I knew we had to bounce back to get a good result” she said. “once you are in the field, it’s just like you’re in the battle field, everything changes and there are no two ways about it, either to go hard or go home and we decided to send Abia Angels home”. she added.

The first half was marked by a fierce battle in midfield, with both teams showing their attacking intent and pressing high up the pitch. Abia Angels took the lead in the 30th minute through a well-placed volley from Rose Adeshina, who capitalized on a defensive error from Adamawa Queens fc. The first half ended with smiles on A’Angles’s faces with a confident away score line of 0-1.

However, The second half saw both teams step up their attacking efforts with Adamawa Queens fc responded with flurry of attacks, and their hard work eventually paid off as Blessing SULE netted the equalizer goal in the 69th minute to boast up her team’s morale.

Abia Angels, on the other hand, were content to defend in numbers and counter-attack when given the opportunity. The breakthrough came in the 90th minute when Adamawa Queen’s goal scorer was taken down at the dangerous 18 yard box by Abia Angels Defender and was awarded a penalty just before stoppage time.

Sandra Aka’ajime stepped up to show her experience and confidence, and made no mistake with her spot-kick, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way to give Adamawa Queens fc the lead.

The victory for Adamawa Queens puts them in a strong position to challenge for the Super 6 as they now sit on 12 points on position 6 and are just 5 points behind the league leaders, Nasarawa Amazons fc.
