NWFL MD 5: Our Dream Is To Secure Super Six – Obi Ogbala Reflects After Heartland Queens Held By Naija Ratels To Barren Draw

Heartland Queens technical adviser, Obi Ogbala had his pride intact after his side was forced to a goalless draw by the hosts, Naija Ratels in Wednesday’s NWFL Premiership matchday 5 clash at the military turf of Aguiyi Ironsi Stadium in FCT, Abuja after been reduced to 10 men (women).

The Owerri mainstreams’ conjurewoman, Mary Lucky was given the marching order after two cautions in the business end of the dugout.

Ogbala said both sides fought each other to a standstill aimed at claiming the entire three points at stake.

“Well, actually, I came here to collect the three points but when we got the red card I had to rejig my team to be able to curtail them to at least get a point.

“Well, with one man down and good enough I have a good bench that is why I was not jittery at all.

“We introduced Chinedu Chinaka to put the defense on alert. We are playing away but then we have to take the ball to them and at the same time try to slow them down so that we can go home with a draw,” said the soft-spoken gaffer to the club’s media.

The former Nasarawa Amazons sweat merchants said the away point at last season’s nemesis, Naija Ratels did not in any way hurt his side’s dreams for a Super Six spot.

“Well, this match has come and gone, Naija Ratels are a good side, we are not taking anything away from them but as we journey home we are going to work on the next match against Dannaz Ladies.

“Surely, our dream is to be in the Super Six and nothing is going to stop us from achieving it.

“Since we came here to pick a point, we are going to look hard at our mistakes here, correct them, and come up with match plans to take the whole points in the next match against Dannaz Ladies,” said the nominee for November’s Naija Women Football Awards (NWFAwards).

The barren draw at the Abuja-based side has taken the Owerri landladies points haul to eight from a possible 15, second on the group’s log and three points behind leaders, Confluence Queens.

Heartland Queens will next play host to newcomers, Dannaz Ladies in Wednesday’s NWFL Premiership matchday 6 clash at the sacred turf, Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri.
