NWFL Lifts Sanctions on Ekiti Queens, Ibom Angels

The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) has confirmed the return of Ekiti Queens to their home ground in Ado-Ekiti following the successful completion of a disciplinary sanction.

The club had previously been ordered to relocate their home fixtures to Abeokuta after breaching league regulations related to matchday organisation and security protocols.

After serving the sanction period and meeting all required operational and safety standards, Ekiti Queens have now been cleared to resume hosting matches at their original venue starting from Matchday 12 of the 2025/26 NWFL Premiership season.

Their official homecoming fixture in Ado-Ekiti is scheduled for Matchday 15, where they will welcome Pacesetter Queens in front of their returning supporters.

In a related development, the NWFL has also lifted the spectator ban imposed on Ibom Angels FC. The restriction had been enforced following incidents involving crowd control and breaches of matchday conduct, which led to the club playing recent home games behind closed doors in Uyo.

Following a thorough review of the club’s matchday arrangements—including improved security measures and adherence to league guidelines—the NWFL has approved the return of fans to Ibom Angels’ home fixtures. Supporters will be readmitted starting from their Matchday 12 clash against Adamawa Queens.

The league body reiterated its commitment to maintaining high standards of professionalism, safety, and integrity across all venues, while also commending both clubs for their cooperation and compliance throughout the sanction period.

These developments mark a positive step forward for both teams as they reconnect with their home fans and continue their campaigns in the NWFL Premiership.
