Ola Olaronke delivered a dramatic late equaliser to secure a crucial point for Pacesetter Queens in their 1–1 draw against Ibom Angels on Matchday 11 of the NWFL Premiership.
The Ibadan-based side looked set for a disappointing home defeat after falling behind early in the encounter. An unfortunate own goal by Olufunke Taiwo in the 13th minute handed Ibom Angels the advantage, putting the visitors in control for much of the game.
Despite trailing for the majority of the contest, Pacesetter Queens continued to push for a breakthrough, showing resilience and determination in front of their home supporters.
Their persistence eventually paid off in dramatic fashion during the closing moments.
With virtually the last attack of the match, Olaronke rose highest to meet a cross with a powerful header, sending the ball past the goalkeeper to restore parity and spark celebrations in Ibadan.
The goal marked her first of the season, making the moment even more significant for the midfielder.
Speaking after the game, the former RoyalToms International and Heartland Queens expressed her delight at making a decisive contribution.
“I was excited and it’s an important goal in the game,” she said.
The late equaliser ensured that Pacesetter Queens avoided defeat and secured a valuable point as they continue their campaign in the top flight.
The newly promoted side now sits 8th on the table with five points, level with Naija Ratels, who suffered a 2–0 home loss to Rivers Angels in Abuja.
While there is still work to be done, the result highlights the fighting spirit within the Pacesetter Queens squad — a quality that could prove vital as they aim to stabilize their position in the league and build momentum in the weeks ahead.
