It could be recalled that Edo Queens topped Group B in the 2022/23 league season, but could not make it to the final of the Super Six fiesta played in Asaba.

As they begin the new season with a positive mind and high hopes, the girls will not leave any stone unturned in their quest to make it to the top this season.

looking at the present rating of the Edo Queens team you will know that it is no longer business as usual as they are determined to stage a big come giving other teams in the group a run for their money.

The NWFL’s new premiership season will see Nigeria Women’s players set new records and also break old ones.

Edo Queens having done very well in the just concluded Women’s Pre-season Cup tournaments in Nigeria, would want to put up a fierce fight against all opponents to prove a point.

Moreover, despite being in a tough Group for an abridged league,
Edo Queens have all it takes to be champions and must work assiduously hard with one another to make the dream a reality.

If what we saw during Pre-season tournaments is anything to go by, the possibility of the girls making it to the top is there.

As it is now, the expectations are high and attention is now on Edo Queens to give their best. No matter how strong the group is, Edo Queens are determined to come out top this season.

For the 2023/24 season, Edo Queens is grouped alongside Bayelsa Queens, Rivers Angels, Delta Queens, FC Robo, Sunshine Queens, and the newly promoted sides Ekiti Queens, and Lakeside Queens.

As eight teams gear up for the big task of qualifying for Super 6, it is important to know that a total of sixteen NWFL teams are in the title race for this year’s premiership crown.

At the end of the regular league season, six teams will go for the Super 6, and two will battle for a slot to represent Nigeria at the African Women’s Champions League AWCL any team that wins at the Super Six will automatically fly the Nigeria flag at the continental scene.

Edo Queens have played in all editions of Super 6, but have not been lucky to reach the final, but we are confident that Edo Queens will make the difference this season, as they prepare to tackle FC Robo tomorrow evening in Benin City.

Edo Queens coach Moses Aduku would want his side to pick up where they left off last season when they face the Emmanuel Osahon tutored girls.

The Bayelsa State-born manager can count on his new players to wreak havoc against FC Robo when the two sides clash at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium tomorrow.

Edo Queens who humiliated FC Robo last season in home and away matches would be eying another win to maintain superiority in the age-long rivalry that has existed between both clubs.

A convincing win in this first home game would go a long way in strengthening the synergy and cohesion in the team.

However, football followers within and outside Edo State have continued to pour encomiums on the Ancient City-based ladies for their fantastic display during Pre-season tournaments.

The State Governor His Excellency Mr.Godwin Obaseki, his wife Mrs. Betsy Obaseki, His deputy Comrade Philip Shaibu, Edo State Sports Commission boss Yussuf Alli, and all members of the State EXCO, the management team, and football-loving people have all thrown their weights behind the Queens and have charged them to go for victory.

Fillers reaching the media desk suggest that Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium will be filled to capacity as usual by the die-hard fans of the club.

We wish the girls plenty of good luck in this NWFL star match of the Week.
