NWFL Championship League: Heartland, Adamawa In Tough Cracker

The NWFL Championship League 2020/2021 hots up today at the Aguiyi Ironsi Sports Complex, Abuja, as the two teams; Heartland Queens and Adamawa Queens, who were relegated from the 2020/2021 NWFL Premiership due to failure to meet Club Registration and Licensing procedures battle themselves in a bid to return to the elite league at 2 pm.

Heartland Queens are presently placed third on the league table with 4 points from three matches, and they must beat Adamawa Queens in their last game today.

A win would give them 7 points. And the ability to score more goals may brighten their chance to return to the premiership. The failure to beat Adamawa Queens and win with a wide goal margin in today’s game, means they have to wait for next season to try again.

A win for Heartland Queens tutored by two former Super Falcons players Adana Nwaneri and Stella Mbachu will take the Owerri Girls to the top of the table temporarily with 7 points, while they wait for Tuesday’s final league games to know their fate.

For Adamawa Queens, they seem not to have any option other than to either win or at worst pull a draw against Heartland Queens. A draw will take them to seven points, the highest Heartland could amass after their last game today, and a win will take them to 9 points, while they wait for the result of Gallant Queens Fc versus Naija Ratels game. Ratels are in 6 points going into their third match today and a game in hand on Tuesday, which put them in a better position to top the table, win the Championship League title, and promotion ticket to the Premiership.

If Ratels must go into their final league game on Tuesday with the comfort of a possible chance to win the league title and promotion, they must beat the struggling Nigeria Army women’s soccer team from Zaria, Gallant Queens Fc at 4 pm.

For the Gallant Queens of Zaria, they will be playing for pride to either record their first draw or win in the league. Achieving these against a tough opponent like Naija Ratels means working very hard. Ratels have scored 6 goals in two matches and conceded no goal.

Kwara Ladies who are in the fourth position on the table with 1 point are on a bye from today’s games, as they play their last league game on Tuesday against Gallant Queens Fc.
