Nwaomucha Emerge Winner Of Delta State Football Association Election

Former Nigeria International Kenneth Nwaomucha has emerged as Delta State Football Association chairman following a landslide victory in the board election, held at the indoor sports hall of the Stephen Keshi Stadium Asaba on Tuesday.
Nwaomucha who is also the current Chairman Youths sports federation of Nigeria Delta chapter polled 26 votes against his opponent, Mr. Michael Aniemeka who got a vote.

The election also saw former Warri Wolves chairman Steve Cole emerged the new Vice-Chairman, with Azuka Ogosi returning as the association’s secretary.

Other persons also elected into the board includes former Delta SWAN Chairman Harrison Ocholor, former Nigeria Referee Association Vice President Mr. David Egho, Former Delta State Commission Board Member, Neville Bekederemor, current Sportswriters Association Chairman and media Officer of Warri Wolves, Azuka Chiemeka, Mr. Special Adviser to the Governor on sports, Mr.Lucky Sunday, and former Super Eagles defender Sam Sodje.

The election was supervised by the Chairman of the Chairmen of Nigeria football federation Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau who was represented by the NFF south-south zonal coordinator, Mr. Emmanuel Iba who is also the Akwa Ibom football association Chairman as well as Edo state football association chairman.

In his inaugural speech after being sworn in by Barrister Chinenye Amujiogu, Nwaomucha said ” I thank the president of NFF Mr. Amaju Pinnick, the Delta sports commission Chairman Chief Tonobok Okowa, and all football stakeholders for this great day. I offer myself to service as Chairman of this great association with a promise that grassroots football and the state league would be made viable and back to reckoning as it has been dormant for some time now”

Furthermore, on reconciling with the faction group, he said ” There is no faction in Delta football. Football is not a one-man game, you can see that the board is made up of five ex-players so we will reach out to the aggrieved side and bring them together to work for a common goal. We will also have a stakeholders conference soon to harmonize our football”

Honourable Ken Nwaomucha takes over the leadership of the association from Ex International Austin Jay Jay Okocha as the tenure of the newly inaugurated board of the Delta state football association will run for four years.
