Nwankwo Bounces Back in Style with Emotional 200m Silver in Jos

Rosemary Nwankwo of Team N-Youth Sports delivered a stirring response to earlier disappointment by clinching a silver medal in the women’s 200m at the MTN Champs Continental Relays in Jos, clocking an impressive sub-23 seconds performance.

The young sprinter’s achievement marked a significant personal milestone, particularly after finishing third in the 100m event. Reflecting on that setback, Nwankwo admitted it became a turning point rather than a limitation.

“It’s massive. What happened to me in the 100m race was an advantage taken from my error. I chased through but was already late. I promise not to repeat such. Thank God for the victory in the 200m,” she said.

Her response on the track was emphatic—showing composure, strength, and determination to bounce back in the longer sprint. The performance not only secured her a podium finish but also reaffirmed her status as one of the rising talents to watch.

Beyond the physical effort, Nwankwo revealed the emotional toll of competition and the mental resilience required to recover quickly. “I cried, a bit emotional, but I encouraged myself to push further,” she added, highlighting the inner drive that fueled her comeback.

She also credited her support system, acknowledging the crucial role of guidance and belief. “I appreciate my coach and my mentor for the words of encouragement ahead of the victory,” she noted.

With her confidence restored and momentum building, Nwankwo has now set her sights on bigger stages. The Commonwealth Games and the World Junior Championships are firmly on her radar as she continues her development this season.

Her performance in Jos stands as a testament to resilience—turning disappointment into motivation and delivering when it mattered most.
