The presidnet of Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Engineer Musa Nimrod has predicted a bright future ahead forthe country when it comes to competitions for the sport of spikers on the beach in Africa and the world at large.
Sports247 reports that Nimrod gave the prediction after seeing Nigeria’s female squad emerge winners of the 2026 African U18 Beach Volleyball Development Cup in Senegal on Thursday, which he described as a very commendable achievement.
Nimrod congratulated the players and coaches for their performance, as the duo of Joy Lawrence and Ifechukwu Odoh, with tactical guidance from Coach John Iwerima, defeated hosts Senegal Team-A 2-0 (21-8, 21-10) to emerge champions of the youth championship in Dakar.
Lawrence and Okoh started the first set strongly and left Senegal struggling to find a response, but the Nigerians maintained their composure to take the opening set 21-8 and continued their impressive display in the second set to win the championship with a 21-10 victory.
In the wake of the duo’s success, Nimrod said their triumph indicates a bright future for beach volleyball in Nigeria, then assured that more investment in youth development and age-grade competitions will remain paramount in the NVBF’s plans to further develop the sport.
Nimrod enthused: “The future of beach volleyball in Nigeria is very bright. We will continue to focus on under-age competitions, because that is how we can build stronger senior women’s teams for the future.”
