In the 60kg male category, Odubonojo Temitope (OOU) fell to Adekoya Waris (LASU) via Referee Stops Contest (RSC) in Round 2, giving the Lagos State University boxer a place in the next round.

The 63.5kg category saw mixed results. Olowosoga Segun (OAU) advanced after winning by Walk Over (WO) against John Emmanuel (UNIJOS), while Obadimeji Lateef (LASU) was stopped by Nentong Victor (UNIJOS) via RSC in Round 2 — a commanding performance by the Jos-based fighter.

In the 67kg category, Olurotimi Emmanuel (Adekunle Ajasin University) narrowly edged Aguh Chinecherem (FUTO) by a 3–2 split decision, while Salvador Faizar (LASU) lost to Williams Oche (UNIJOS) after the referee stopped the contest in the first round, continuing the host school’s strong run.

The 71kg division featured another dramatic matchup as Lawal Opeyemi (LASU) outpointed Ridwan Odekanle (UNILAG) 3–2 in a thrilling contest. However, Bello Ismail (LAUTECH) could not continue after Amupitan Gbenga (FUTMINNA) forced a stoppage in Round 1 via RSC.

In the 75kg class, Jeremiah Ishiaku (UNIJOS) progressed after a Walk Over (WO) win against Argak Mukan (ABU), keeping Jos fans on their feet.

Rounding off the day, Victor Alex (UNILAG) suffered a 5–0 unanimous points loss to Egbu David (FUTO) in a one-sided contest.

The semi-final results highlight UNIJOS as the dominant force of Day 2, earning multiple wins through skill, aggression, and home advantage.

As the NUGA 2025 Boxing Finals draw near, anticipation continues to build, with tomorrow’s bouts expected to decide which universities will claim boxing glory in Jos.
