NSF Delta 2022 : Recap Of Team Nasarawa’s Performance On Day 4

Day four of the 21st edition of the National Sports Festival taking place in Asaba, Delta State, came with some mixed feelings for Team Nasarawa.

The Team won her first Silver Medal in Para-Table Tennis Singles courtesy of Hussaini Ibrahim, making it a total of three(3) medals in the cabin for the State so far, after two Bronze Medals were won on the previous day in Taekwondo Events.

Samuel John couldn’t advance to the medal stage in Boxing after losing 2-3 to Habeeb Quzim of Oyo State in the Quarter-Finals.

But the duo of Yusuf Musa and Habeeb Obayomi gave the State some renewed Boxing hope.

In the 66kg, Yusuf Musa, punched out his Ebonyi State counterpart, Wilfred Osaretin, 5-0 in the first preliminary round and qualified for the second preliminary round billed for Sunday(tomorrow) morning.

Habeeb Obayomi towed the path of Yusuf as he pummeled Rahman Idris of Abia State 5-0 in the 57kg, and advanced to the Quarter-Finals.

He will know his next opponent on Monday, while another Team Nasarawa’s boxer, Farouq Tajudeen, is placed on standby but will be in action on Monday to determine his advancement to the Quarter-Finals.

Team Nasarawa Hockey will begin their first assignment at the Festival when they take on Rivers State in a crunch Group B encounter at the Hockey Stadium, Okpanam Road, Asaba.

Rivers lost their first Group B match 0-1 to host, Delta, earlier on Saturday.

Both the Male and Female Teams of the State Volleyball will be in action on Sunday.

The State’s Men’s Volleyball Team will play their first Group match against Ogun State by 9 o’clock in the morning before the Female Team will engage Team Delta later in the evening at same venue.

Kung-Fu will also be in action on Sunday.

The team will participate in the Individual Tawulu (Demonstration) Event by 8 o’clock in the morning at the St.Patrick’s Anglican College, Asaba.

Athletics will also hold on Sunday as released by the Local and Main Organizing Committees.
