NSF Delta 2022: Gold Is It As Ogun Scrabble Female Team Shines In Asaba

It was another moment of back slapping and hugging as Ogun State on Sunday evening snatched the gold medal in the Female Doubles Event at the ongoing National Sports Festival in Asaba, Delta.

The victory came on the heels of the silver medal won by Babatunde Adeagbo in the Intermediate singles category.

The of duo Bukunmi Afolayan and Adebisi Adekansi bestroded the category clearing all opposition including host Delta state which boasted of Africa’s No. 1 Female player Touyo Mayuku in its team.

They maintained their strong start till the end, hitting Team Delta in three straight wins to push their score to an unassailable record of 11wins and a defeat with a rich cumulative point of 918.

It’s instructive to note that Afolayan was in Lusaka, Zambia on the ticket of the Ogun State Scrabble Association chairman Adekoyejo Adegbesan as part of her preparations for this festival.

Delta would finish in the second position to pick silver while Bayelsa took bronze.

The victory has hauled the state to the second position on the overall medals table only behind the host Delta state with seven gold, five silver and six bronze.

Delta State boasts of 43 gold, 22 silver and 15 bronze medals.
