Officials of the National Sports Commission (NSC) have joined hands with top shots of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to prepare the Super Eagles for the upcoming play-offs stage in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, Sports247 reports.
This much was disclosed by NFF president, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau while providing details of the Super Eagles’ build-up schedule towards the forthcoming mini-competition that will aldo involve Gabon, Cameroon and Democratic Republic of Congo.

With the Eagles set to tango Gabon in the first semi-final on November 13th, following which the winner will face the victor between Cameroon and DR Congo in the final on November 16th, Gusau affirmed that Nigeria’s camp will open in Rabat, Morocco on November 9th.
He also assured Nigerian football fans that all hands are already on deck in the NFF and NSC to ensure that the Eagles do not let slip this rare opportunity of a second chance for them to qualify for the first World Cup that will be co-hosted by three countries.
Gusau revealed, “The camp will open in Rabat, Morocco on Sunday, 9th November. Everything is being done by the NSC and the NFF to see that nothing is left to chance. We are speaking to the players already and no stone will be left unturned.”
The NFF boss then enthused that the urge to finaly qualify for the Mundial would spur the Nigerian players to rise to the occasion against Gabon and eventually pick the competition’s lone ticket to the intercontinental play-offs that will be hosted by Mexico next year March.
“That special spirit that saw the team rise to the occasion and score the four goals they actually needed against Bénin Republic on the final day of the qualifiers, will propel the team to victory in the play-offs.
“I believe the players are additionally motivated by that keen desire of every professional footballer to feature at the FIFA World Cup,” Gusau submitted.
Sports247 gathered further that winning the upcoming contest in Morocco would see the Eagles move closer to USA/Mexico/Canada 2026, as they will play only a single match in the six-nation continental play-offs, considering that they would be the highest rated team based on FIFA’s monthly rankings
