The chairman of Nigeria’s National Sports Commission (NSC), Mallam Shehu Dikko has provided details of what he described as an ongoing process that would ensure players, coaches and officials of the female national team, Super Falcons receive all rewards announced for them by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Sports247 reports that, while many Nigerians are already spreading doubt over the feasibility of the Falcons’ delegation receiving the money, houses and national awards that the president promised them, Dikko disclosed that the process has reached an advanced stage.

The former chairman of Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) further disclosed that he has already played his own part as the NSC’s boss by forwarding an official recommendation to The Presidency, which then issued directives to the relevant agencies, and their responses are now being awaited.
Dikko revealed at length, “I raised a memo to Mr President, stating that, ‘These are the people entitled to these rewards that you have announced. These are their account numbers, their addresses’ … and what have you.
“I added, ‘Please, Mr President direct the relevant authorities to take action.’ By this, I was referring to the minister of finance and the accountant-general to pay the monies direct to the accounts of the players.
“I also requested that they direct the minister of housing to make allocation of the houses to the stated addresses and then direct us to distribute them. Also direct the minister of special duties to issue national award certificates to the receivers through their addresses and their names.”
Dikko stated further that his memo on the matter was duly received and noted at The Presidency, where it was approved and then passed on to the three relevant offices, hence his confidence that the actual disbursements of the rewards will soon take place.
“That memo was raised, and it went through a process, after which Mr. President approved it, signed it and duly directed the relevant agencies to take action. So, in the final analysis, the minister of finance and accountant-general of the federation are processing the payments.
“The minister of housing is processing the allocation of houses, and the minister of special duties is processing how to issue the national award certificates to all the duly announced recipients in the team,” Dikko assured.
Sports247 recalls that, as rewards for ringing a 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title for Nigeria earlier this year, each player in the Super Falcons was promised $100,000 by Presidebt Tinubu, plus a house at New Hope Estate in Abuja and Order of The Niger (OON) national honour.
