NPFL20 Review: Kano to rebuild pillars as match day 4 beckons

The NPFL will see the first mid-week action of the season as teams get ready for matchday four. With emphatic victories and plenty of goals on MD3, the league is set to come alive tomorrow again as we take a look at what is at stake for the clubs.

Let’s start from the struggling Akwa United who were beaten 3-1 in Aba by Enyimba. The promise keepers are yet to find their feet under John Obuh and still without a victory in 3 outings; The team return to home soil with hopes as they host Katsina United in Uyo. The away team is 11th with 4 point and a win for the host will move the higher on the table, Mfon Udoh and Tasiu Lawal both have two goals in three games as both teams go head to head.

Akwa United’s city rivals, Dakkada FC will also play host to third-placed Ifeanyi Ubah tomorrow. Dakkada have been impressive away from home and will be looking to gain all three points in their first home match; FC Ifeanyi Ubah with 7 points are yet to lose a game and with their performance this season at MFM, they will be a hard nut to crack.

MFM FC have two away wins this season at Enugu and Owerri; Clashing with the wolves from Warri tomorrow will be an intense affair as both teams are yet to lose this season.
Tony Bolus’ men will be looking to catch up on Plateau United while the visitors will hope to slip into the top four.

League leaders, Plateau United will be on the road to Lafia; The 100% start by Abdu Maikaba’s team put them as the favourite in this one, with Nassarawa United yet to win a game this season. The host will be looking to spoil the party for Plateau tomorrow.

After dismantling the Pillars, Lobi welcome Heartland in Makurdi. The host, oozing with confidence after MD1 defeat to Plateau, will want to add another three points in the bag; For Fidelis Ilechukwu and his men, it is a chance to prove a point after dropping points to Dakkada at home last time out.

In Kano where a three-game ultimatum has been handed to the management staff of Pillars to turns things around, the team is on the road in a relegation battle with Jigawa Golden Stars. The host sits rock bottom on the log without a point in three games.

After both teams saw defeats last time out, Rivers United and Enugu Rangers will clash in Port Harcourt; the two sides will be going all out for this one as we expect to see some fire for fire football.

While, Wikki Tourist will want to rise again when they face Delta force, defending champions, Enyimba will be visiting Akure to take on Sunshine stars. Following the convincing victory over Akwa United in Aba, the Elephants will rival the gunners for three points; For the host, picking a point at Enyimba’s neighbours in Umuahia will be a confidence booster to battle their guests.
