The battle for the NPFL golden boot has tightened up this season with lots of players already hitting the back of the net with lots of goals. The numbers are so close at the top of the goal scorers’ chart and with just 10 weeks gone, the strikers have a long season to score more goals.
Despite not scoring on MD 10 in their 2-1 loss to Rivers United, Sunshine Stars striker, Israel Abia still stays at the top of the goals scorers chart; The Akure gunner has had a very fruitful 9 weeks in front of goal which has produced 7 goals so far for him this season.
Abia is closely followed by Enyimba FC in-form striker, Victor Mbaoma who has suddenly found his goal scoring boots in the past few weeks in the league. Scoring his 6th goal of the season in the defending champions’ 1-1 draw with Jigawa Golden Stars, the striker has now scored in three consecutive NPFL games.
Firing his team to three points against Katsina United, Jimoh Oni has now scored 5 goals for Lobi Stars. Taking the baton from the usual suspect, Sikiru Alimi who also has scored a handful this season, Jimoh is looking too hot for defenders to handle.
All tied on four goals, Taisu Lawal, Ibrahim Mustapha, Isaac George, Sikiru Alimi and Ndifreke Effiong will be looking to add to their goal tallies when next file out on the pitch while some strikers yet to find a goal will be hoping to hit the target.
