NPFL: SWAN Expresses Dissatisfaction Over Nasarawa Team Position

The Nasarawa State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), has expressed disappointment with the current position of the state-owned male football club, Nasarawa United, urging the management of the club to do everything within its powers to avoid relegation.

The association made this known in a communique signed by the SWAN Chairman, Isa Muhammed, and Secretary, Smah George. It was made available after a meeting held in Lafia, the State capital.

Nasarawa United sits in 9th place in Group A of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) table, with eight (8) points after 12 games. In its last encounter in the NPFL, Nasarawa United lost 2-1 against El Kanemi Warriors.

“SWAN appreciated the efforts of the State Government on the ongoing transformation of facilities at the Lafia City Stadium which are geared towards improving sporting activities in the State,” Nasarawa State SWAN said in a statement.

“SWAN, however, urged the State Government to ensure other sports facilities, especially at the Stadium, are equally considered in terms of early completion, giving the fact that it has a way of affecting the psychology of athletes of the State.”
