NPFL Roundup: Rivers United Maintain Seven Points Lead As Kano Pillars Stun Remo Stars In Ikenne

Actions continued in the 2021/2022 season of Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL on Saturday as nine matches of week 30 were decided today.

We witnessed seven home wins and two away victories on a day that produced thirty goals from 9 venues with the match between Niger Tornadoes and Lobi Stars the only undecided game this match day.

Rivers United maintained their 7 points lead at top of the NPFL table after defeating Dakkada 3-2 in Uyo while closet rivals, Plateau United scored four unreplied goals against third placed Enugu Rangers to keep the title race alive.

Elsewhere in Ikenne, Remo Stars were shocked by Kano Pillars as the Sky Blues Stars lost their second home game of the season in a 3-1 loss.

In Ilorin, 5th placed Kwara United pipped defending champions, Akwa United by a lone goal to keep their hopes for continental football alive.

Sunshine Stars returned to winning ways in Akure as they defeated Katsina United 2-0. In Aba, sixth placed Enyimba survived a late scare as they scored a late winner to defeat Nasarawa United 3-2.

Earlier in the day, MFM FC picked an important three points against Gombe United at the Otunba Dipo Dina International Stadium to move up from the bottom of the table while Wikki Tourists defeated Abia Warriors 1-0 in Bauchi.

The top four of the NPFL table remain the same with Rivers United maintaining the lead with 64 points, Plateau United second with 57 points, Enugu Rangers occupy the third position with 48 points while Remo Stars stay fourth with 46 points.

The match between Niger Tornadoes and Lobi Stars was suspended due to a yet to be disclosed reason as at the time of writing the round up.
