NPFL Review: Enyimba’s unbeaten run halted in Port Harcourt as Akwa United win away from home.

Enyimba FC surrendered their 12-match unbeaten record in Group A of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) as they lost to Rivers United in Port Harcourt.

In Group B, Akwa United edged host Go Round to ensure their stay at the top of the standings – after a slow start to the season.

Rivers United 1-0 Enyimba

Rivers United ended Enyimba’s unbeaten run in the NPFL with a slim 1-0 victory at the Yakub Gowon stadium in Port Harcourt. The only goal of the game was scored by former ABS FC of Ilorin striker Ossy Martins in the 13th minute.

With the victory, the host moved to fourth on the log with 26 points, two ahead of Lobi Stars.

Rangers 1-0 Kwara

Kwara United poor run of form continued with a 1-0 loss away to Enugu Rangers. Felix Ogbuke’s strike denied the Harmony Warriors a share of the spoils.

The result means Kwara United still occupy the tenth position on the log with 20 points from ten games.

Tornadoes 1-0 Katsina

Salib Dosso scored the winner as Niger Tornadoes edge visiting Katsina United by a lone goal in Minna.

Go-Round 0-1 Akwa

Akwa United got the only away victory of the Matchday courtesy a late effort from Godspower Aniefiok.

Rafael Everton’s men who started the season with a home loss to El-Kanemi Warriors are top of Group B with 34 points from 18 games.

Plateau 2-0 Gombe

Former NPFL champions, Plateau United enhanced their chance to avoid relegation with a 2-0 victory over Gombe United at the Jos stadium.

After a goalless opening half, former MFM FC striker, Sikiru Olatunbosun broke the deadlock, before former Rivers United winger, Bernard Ovoke doubled their advantage from the spot.

Plateau United are ninth on the log with 22 points from 18 games, two points below the safe zone.

Yobe 0-0 El-Kanemi

Yobe Desert Stars were forced to a barren draw by visiting El-Kanemi Warriors at the Potiskum Stadium, Damaturu.

Wikki 1-1 MFM

MFM’s Joshua Abah cancelled Franklin Anthony’s effort as the Lagos-based side secured a point away in Bauchi.

MFM are still third on the table with 28 points while their host occupy the eighth position with 23 points.
