NPFL: Rangers Run Riot as Ikorodu Hold Wikki to Stay Top — NPFL Matchday 16 Round-Up

Matchday 16 of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) served up a full dose of excitement across the country, with crucial results shaping the title race and mid-table battles.

Enugu Rangers delivered the most dominant performance of the day, sweeping aside Bayelsa United 4–1 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium.

Chidozie Iwundu struck twice in the 10th and 17th minutes, while Kenechukwu Agu (33’) and Chimobi Igwilo (38’) ensured a comfortable win. Issah Yusuf scored Bayelsa United’s only goal in the 22nd minute.

League leaders Ikorodu City maintained their position at the summit after holding Wikki Tourists to a goalless draw in Bauchi.

In Ilorin, Kwara United eased past Niger Tornadoes 2–0.

Bright Babatunde opened the scoring in the 15th minute before an own goal in the 37th minute doubled the lead.

Plateau United edged Wolves 1–0 courtesy of a 19th-minute own goal.

The encounter ended with both sides reduced to 10 men after Vincent Temitope (Plateau) and Gift David (Wolves) were sent off in the 86th minute.

Abia Warriors rescued a late point at home in their 1–1 draw with Rivers United. Maclyn Biokpo put Rivers ahead in the 86th minute, but Suraju Lawal equalised dramatically in the 90+4 minute.

Remo Stars secured a 2–1 victory over Enyimba in Ikenne, with Victor Mbaoma scoring twice (3’, 45’). Edidiong Ezekiel scored Enyimba’s only goal in the 32nd minute.

Kano Pillars earned a 2–1 win against Kun Khalifat. Rabiu Ali netted a brace, including a penalty in the 38th minute, after scoring the opener in the 19th minute. Ebuka Nwokorie briefly restored parity for the visitors in the 27th minute.

Earlier in Maiduguri, Elkanemi Warriors were held to a 0–0 draw by Barau FC.
