Forward Mmemoma Nnorom has revealed a renewed sense of urgency and determination within the Kun Khalifat FC camp as the team intensifies its battle against relegation in the Nigeria Professional Football League.
The NPFL newcomers boosted their survival hopes with a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Nasarawa United in Lafia—an outcome that has reignited belief among players and coaching staff heading into a crucial Matchday 34 fixture.
Kun Khalifat will face Warri Wolves on Sunday at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in what promises to be a defining encounter in their fight to remain in the top flight.
Speaking ahead of the clash, Nnorom, the 20 years old forward stressed that the squad is fully aware of the magnitude of the task ahead, with survival now the overriding objective.
“The players are charged for survival,” Nnorom said. “That win in Lafia has really boosted our confidence, and we are going into the next game with a strong belief that we can get another positive result.”
Currently sitting bottom of the table with 36 points from 33 matches, Kun Khalifat remain just four points adrift of safety, with teams like Remo Stars, Enyimba and Bayelsa United hovering around the 40-point mark.
Despite their precarious position, recent form offers encouragement.
The team has picked up 10 points from their last five matches, signaling a late resurgence that could prove decisive in the final stretch of the season.
However, the challenge remains steep. Warri Wolves, currently 10th on the table, arrive in Owerri buoyed by an impressive 2–0 victory over Rivers United, a result that underlines their capability to upset any side.
For Kun Khalifat, the equation is simple,.win and keep survival hopes alive; anything less could leave them on the brink of relegation with only a handful of matches remaining.
As the season enters its final five matches, Sunday’s clash may well define whether Kun Khalifat’s spirited late push ends in survival or heartbreak.
