NPFL: No Malevolent Move Can Stop Our Resolve In Moving Plateau Football Forward – Longbap

The Chairman of Plateau State Football Association, Sunday Samson Longbap has decried the attempt by some individuals who are hellbent in destabilizing the smooth runs of football activities on the Plateau.

This is coming at the backdrop of a report spread across on social media by faceless persons calling for the immediate elections into the Plateau State Football Association.

The post, which is allegedly attributed to the Media Officer of Plateau United fc, Albert Dakup reads:

“Sequel to the mandate given to all football federations across the country by the Nigerian football federation (NFF) – the Constitution is draggy and delayed in plateau state.

Significantly, for years the plateau state football association has manipulated elections and has been unfair to football development and productivity on the plateau.

Constitution wise the tenure of Sunday longbap the FA chairman and his cabinet has expired, therefore elections are bound to take place to effect change.

Respectively, the football-loving populace on the plateau are crying out for change to enhance the development and flexibility of football affairs.

Obstructively, the present FA chairman of the plateau state football federation is a staff of the room local government- why can’t he go back to his base and allow the Constitution to take its place?

Globally, the politics involved in sports is highlighted with transparency, freedom, and growth # on the plateau is corrupt and misleading..”

A visibly sad and disappointed Longbap, told journalists that he’s surprised that Albert Dakup, a journalist, who’s also the Deputy Chairman of Bokkos Local Government Football Association is not abreast of the rules that govern the game.

According to him, “An extraordinary Congress convened in June 2019, unanimously resolute and adopted the current board led by me, owing to current football development and progresses witnessed in the state and coupled with the lingering court case, makes our tenure to be extended for another four(4) years; a resolution powered by the NFF statute and duly endorsed by the NFF representatives present that day.”

The statutory football stakeholders in the state had earlier on the 5th of August, passed a vote of confidence on the Sunday Samson Longbap led board.
The statement adds that Longbap has demonstrated himself in the discharge of his duty with patriotism, dynamism and leadership quality to justify the trust bestowed on him by the Plateau football lovers.

Albert Dakup on his part denied been the originator of the said writeup.
In his words: ” an anonymous writer posted it on a WhatsApp group and I just decided to share it on various platforms. My main priority now is to give my utmost best as usual to Plateau United’s drive to do the State and Nigeria proud at the Caf Champions League.”
