NPFL: Nasarawa United Beat Remo Stars, Regains Top Stop

Nasarawa United have returned to the summit of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) after a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Remo Stars in a rescheduled fixture on Thursday.

It was Remo Stars who drew first blood in the early minutes when Michael Ibe struck in the 5th minute to silence the home fans.

But Nasarawa United refused to be rattled. John Joshua restored parity in the 32nd minute before JoFrank Isitifanus completed the comeback with a fine finish in the 79th minute to seal all three points for the Solid Miners.

The victory lifts Nasarawa United to the top of the NPFL table with 22 points from 11 matches, while Remo Stars continue to struggle, sitting 17th on the log with just 10 points from 9 games. The defeat also means the Sky Blue Stars are without a win in four consecutive matches.

In another rescheduled encounter, Bendel Insurance were held to a goalless draw by Rivers United at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.

The hosts dominated proceedings with better possession and more attempts on goal but couldn’t find the breakthrough despite the backing of their home crowd.

The result extends Insurance’s winless run under coach Kenedy Boboye, as they remain in the relegation zone with 9 points from 11 matches.

Rivers United, meanwhile, continue to show steady form, moving up to 6th position on the table with 17 points from 10 matches.
