NPFL Media Officers’ Forum Sympathizes With Wikki Tourists Over Team Bus Fire Incident

The Nigeria Professional Football League Media Officers’ Forum has expressed shock over the ugly fire incident that affected the team bus of Wikki Tourists FC of Bauchi on Thursday, 18th February 2021, while on their way to honor a league match in Uyo, Akwa-Ibom State.

In the wake of the incident, President of the NPFL Media Officers’ Forum, Mr. Eche Amos, reached out to the Media Officer of Wikki Tourists FC, Mallam Nasiru Kobi, who narrated how the inferno took place along the Kibo Hill, Jos-Akwanga express road.

Kobi who was in another bus conveying the Club’s officials recounted seeing the coaster bus engulfed in flames after two of the back tyres pulled off while galloping the hill.

He added that the majority of the occupants of the bus lost valuable items, including mobile phones, sports wares, among others to the inferno.

While offering the Forum’s condolences, Amos stated: _”Though shocking, incidents as this and its trauma are better imagined than experienced.

“We thank God that no life was lost.

“We sympathise with the entire set-up of the Club and pray that all affected persons will overcome and recover from the unpalatable experience in no distant time.”

Kobi confirmed fellow NPFL outfit, Plateau United, in a show of solidarity, provided a bus to convey the affected players and officials back to Bauchi, as they could not continue with the trip.

Wikki Tourists are billed to play away to Dakkada FC on Saturday, this weekend, in the NPFL Matchday eleven tie.
