Both sides met once while in the lower league during the Nigeria National League (NNL) Super Eight in Asaba, Delta State last season with the Naze Millionaires winning the game 2-1 to qualify for the final of that tournament. But Sporting Lagos did enough to book a ticket to the NPFL.

The two teams equally met at the ValueJet Cup at the beginning of the last preseason activities with Sporting Lagos winning the game 3-2. It was a tempestuous tie that produced some penalties.

Things are quite different now. Both have started the season in contrasting ways with Sporting Lagos at the middle of the pack with 11 points while Heartland FC are not where they ought to be on the table and are fighting harder to leave the spot.

It will be a different ball game in Lagos on Sunday with Heartland FC in dire need of a result. The technical crew has been fortified a little with the players in high hopes of delivering a positive result and proving naysayers wrong.

Heartland FC should still call on Chisom Chiaha, Samuel Stone, and hard-as-nail skipper, Nnaemeka Anyanwu among others.

Promising midfielder, Promise Anyanwu knows the enormity of the task at hand and he told Heartland FC Media that he and his teammates are ready to put everything they have into the game to ensure they achieve positive results.

He said they have reviewed the results of the games they have played and have come to the realization that they can still rescue their season with a good result in Lagos.

“It will be a tough game but it is surmountable. We will give all we have for the game knowing that we still have our destinies in our hands with a good result in Lagos and our subsequent games,” Anyanwu told Heartland FC Media.

“We have considered all our games this season. We are only missing out on a few details. We will start correcting that from the game with Sporting Lagos.”
